Couscous, St Clement's, Oxford

Could this place be the new Kaz Bar?

Not quite, but it's definitely a welcome addition to this rather underwhelming part of the city. Colourful, friendly and with a small selection of delicatessen items on sale such as Moroccan style teapots, boxes of saffron and bottles of olive oil as well as food to eat in (which costs 20p extra) or take away, Couscous is making its mark.

When I visited this week, the bastilla (chicken with almonds and cinnamon in filo pastry) had sold out, but a chicken and avacado baguette and a fiery merguez wrap were tasty alternatives.

The food isn't all North African - there's a selection of muffins, cakes and croissants to complement the five types of baklawa and other flaky treats.
