Buffalo's on the menu
Gourmet Burger Kitchen, which has a restaurant in George Street, Oxford, has launched a couple of products pitched at those who like their meat on the wild side - buffalo and wild boar.
To be honest, the buffalo could be described as 'delicately' flavoured' and not particularly different from beef, but it provides a good talking point. It comes with sauteed fresh onions and garlic (delicious, in my opinion, but not to everyone's taste) plus the option of a zingy mayonnaise.
The wild boar is certified organic and served with roasted garlic and a spicy cranberry sauce as an optional extra.
GBK's not the cheapest place in George Street to grab a bite, with the admittedly hefty burger dishes tending to be above £7, but the place makes a refreshing change from the Italian chains that line the road and there is plenty of choice available.
For those who prefer their burgers on the simpler, and more economical, side, McDonald's and Burger King have two-for-one offers this month on Big Macs and Angus Burgers, having published plenty of coupons in the national press.
