TENNIS: Woodstock's second pair deny Thame win

Thame's first string of Nigel King & Doug Struthers were unbeaten, but they had to settle for a 4.5-4.5 draw at home to Woodstock in Men's Division 2 of the 3-Pair League.

King and Struthers beat Woodstock's first and third pairs, but could only draw with 6-7, 6-1 with the visitors' second string of Pramod Gujral and Chris Rolfe, who won their other two matches.

In Ladies Division 2, Thame romped to an 8-1 success at Banbury B, as the pairings of Jo Kelly & Karenlynn Pinner and Fiona Pidgeon & Mandy Howkins won all their sets.

Wychwood recorded a handsome 7-2 success at home to Woodstock B, with their third pair of Anne Powell Jones & Lucy Artus winning all three matches, while each of their other two pairs dropped a set.

Banbury A went down by the same margin at home to Goring, with only Judy Canning & Marion Mason winning a match.

In the 2-Pair League, there was a narrow 2.5-1.5 victory for Wantage at Cholsey.
