SPEEDWAY: Oxford fans urged to attend SOS meeting

Oxford Cheetahs fans are urged to attend a meeting at the Kidlington Green Social Club, Green Road, Kidlington, on Tuesday night (7.30), aimed at saving the sport in the city, writes ROBERT PEASLEY.

Supporters will be brought up to date on any latest developments.

And Save Our Speedway (SOS) spokesman Chris Brown called on fans to turn out in force.

"As I've said before, it will be a tragedy if the sport ceases to be staged in the Oxford area, given the club's lengthy history," he commented.

"However, it has now developed very much into a race against time and that time is running out particularly in terms of us seeing speedway staged this year.

"Both ourselves and the official supporters club are refusing to give up hope and are working as hard as we can towards our aims, including enlisting the help of MP for Oxford East, Andrew Smith.

"At the meeting we will inform those attending exactly what the current position is and discuss future moves, listening to any ideas that might be put forward from the floor as it were.

"Without doubt this meeting is vitally important, so be there if you can."
