RUGBY UNION: Oxon overpowered

| Oxfordshire full back Huw Jones attacks against Cornwall |
Cornwall 66, Oxfordshire 8
Oxfordshire coach John Brodley admitted his side were overpowered in their 11-try defeat to Cornwall at Redruth.
But he urged them to keep their heads up for the remaining two matches in the south pool.
A Nick Sevier try and James Cathcart penalty were all Oxon could manage against very tough opponents.
Cornwall's entire squad were made up of Mounts Bay, Redruth and Launceston players, all of whom will be in National 2 next season.
Oxfordshire didn't have one player from that level, but could have Newbury trio Martin Nutt, Gregor Hayter and Tom Payne available for Saturday's clash with Eastern Counties at Chinnor.
Brodley said: "We were overpowered as the scoreline shows, but you can't fault our effort. Everybody gave their best.
"We had a stronger side than last year when we drew with Cornwall, but took a mauling this time.
"You can't really grumble with the result.
"Cornwall were a lot stronger, quicker and more experienced. That really showed when they brought on a bench of National League players.
"Cornwall have always been capable of fielding a county side of National 2 standard, which they have now managed.
"They have looked at the success Devon have had in recent years and want some of that for themselves."
Centre Simon Peters opened the scoring for Cornwall with a third-minute try, converted by Mark Scrivener.
Oxon countered with a penalty from Chinnor fly half Cathcart and reduced the arrears to 27-8 with a try from Grove wing Sevier.
In between, Lewis Vinnicombe (2) and Mark Richards added more tries with Scriverner kicking a conversion and penalty.
Flanker Chris Fuca ghosted in under the posts in stoppage time, with Scrivener's conversion making it 34-8.
After the break, Vinnicombe completed his hat-trick and Cornwall added a penalty try.
Josh Lord, Jamie Semmens, Marek Churcher and Jason Bolt wrapped up the scoring with Semmens converting Bolt's effort.
Brodley added: "We look forward to this week's game at home against a team who were promoted last year.
"There has been a long season before this, but our heads are not down."
