Captain Matt Hutchings said Chinnor's team spirit had been vital to winning the title.

"I don't think many people thought we would be winning South West 1 this season," said Hutchings.

"But we have had great team spirit and that showed right up to the last game of the season.

"We didn't owe Quins anything. What we owed each other today was a performance, after we've all been through so much.

"It wasn't about beating Quins, it was about winning something tangible, which we have now done.

"This is definitely the highlight for me as a captain.

"I think we have kept our feet firmly on the ground this season.

"There was no point that we thought we were going to run away with the league.

"We have been really great at home. We've turned it into a bit of a fortress.

"We are a very proud club. Even last season when we were taking some beatings, we were still taking pride in our performance.

"We know what to expect up there in National 3. We know we've got to work really hard.

"But we want to challenge ourselves as players and as a team.

"Keeping the squad is key and I think we'll stick together this time."

Coach Jason Bowers added: "The committee, the players and Hutch as skipper have just been magnificent. I have also had great support from Lynn Evans.

"The players have really worked their socks off, not just on Saturdays, but on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

"Whether it's been in the gym or on the pitch, they have wanted to improve their fitness.

"They are keen to play to the best level they can.

"It was games like at Cleve when we were 16-0 down early on and beating Bracknell twice that proved crucial.

"We've certainly won the league fair and square."

Bowers secured promotions when he was coach at Tring, but this is the most prestigious title he has won.

He said: "My success at Tring was special because it was my first as a coach, but this season has been wonderful."

"To say it is going to be easy next season would be stupid.

"But there's no reason why, with the right squad, we won't be able to go forward - not just to stay up, but to do well.

"We are a club that wants to improve and we are already working to keep our squad together."
