It's not too late to enter
Jason Donovan starts last year's race
Jason Donovan starts last year's race

It's not too late to enter the OX5 Run this weekend to raise money for the Oxford Children's Hospital.

That's the message from fundraisers at the purpose-built hospital at the John Radcliffe site in Headington.

Last year, about 200 runners turned up on the day to join the hundreds already booked in to run the five-mile course at Blenheim Palace in Woodstock, and organisers are hoping a similar number do the same on Sunday.

Singer and Echo Beach star Jason Donovan started the race and he will be appearing at the OX5 Run for the second year running.

Chox spokesman Claire Hooper said: "We want to remind runners that they can just turn up and run.

"They won't be charged for getting into the palace, and they can park for free but they need to turn up after 9am to register for the race, which starts at 10.30am. It costs £12.50 to enter the race on the day.

"We know there will be people who have not had time to fill in a form in advance but would still like to run on the day and we don't want them to miss out.

"We would urge as many people as possible to turn up on Sunday morning to raise thousands of pounds for a good cause."

Graham Brogden, head of community fundraising for Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals, said: "It may be a challenge getting out of bed and running five miles on a cold Sunday morning, but I take inspiration from the young patients of the children's hospital who cope with far greater challenges every day.

"I urge everyone to take a moment to think about them and rise to the challenge.

"I would like to thank our friends at the Oxford Mail for organising this wonderful event for the sixth year, plus the race sponsors, Jason Donovan for his continued support and of course everyone for taking part and their supporters.

"It's a fantastic community event and your support really will make a huge difference to the children's hospital."
