BAR BILLIARDS: Final joy for super Nelson
Nelson A sealed their place in the final of the Buildbase Oxford & District League's Scotland Ash Cup with a 3-2 win over Dolphin A.
Steven Sheard gave Nelson the perfect start with an opening break of 10,000 in his 11,000-1,780 victory over Paul Caistor.
Simon Ellam (4,340) hit back for Dolphin to make it 1-1, but Kevin Godfrey (6,140) restored Nelson's lead.
Keith Sheard secured the match in the fourth game, beating Dave Barnes 7,230-2,670.
Jimmy Robson took a consolation point for Dolphin, beating Pauline Withey 4,700-1,690.
They will meet Didcot Con Club in the final after they saw off Corner House A 3-2.
In a low-scoring match, Alan Oliver and Alan Lacey put House 2-0 up, but Didcot hit back to win with victories from Dave Tooke, Dennis Atkins and Jenny Abbott.
CORNER House B are through to the Group B Team Knockout final after a 4 -1 victory over Nelson B.
Jason Cattermole (8,450, break 6,710), Tony Harvey (1,950), Dave Bartlett (7,010) and Steve Huntley (2,140) won the first four games.
Young Lewis Stratford took the last game against Russell Fletcher 4,790-1,220.
THE Oxford & District League hold their annual finals and presentation night at Gladiators Club on Saturday, May 17.
Tickets will cost £4 including entry, a programme, entertainment and a buffet.
