BOXING: Berinsfield's double joy
Berinsfield light flyweight Josh Lock secured the first of two wins for the Oxfordshire outfit at Banbury with a polished performance to outwit Bletchley rival Dean Williams.
He made full use of his extra height to bewilder his opponent with precise shots from both hands to give the judges an easy task.
And light middleweight Frank Morton totally dominated his encounter with Kineton's Alex Jerome as he romped to a unanimous verdict.
But there was disappointment for bantamweight Roxroy Eccleston, who dominated the first two sessions before Warwick Racing ABC rival Marcus Glen rallied to nick the verdict on a wafer-thin split decision.
Lock, 13, chalked up his second win in the space of seven days - his third on the trot - with another impressive victory over Dorchester rival Lee Cooney at Sturminster Newton.
Bantamweight Richard Tyler, 15, also returned triumphant from Dorset after halting West Country schoolboy champion Claude Delange.
A left hook prompted a standing count, and then Tyler upended Delange with a triple combination and then had his arm raised in triumph after his rival failed to emerge for the third round.
Berinsfield stage their next open tournament at the Abbey Sports Centre on Saturday, May 3 (3pm).
Admission is £10 for adults with concessions available, more information from Mel Corrigan on 07860 156950.
And on May 10, Berinsfield stage the Home Counties v London Junior ABA Championships at their gym.
