Super Storey in perch haul

Local specimen angler Alan Storey, from Witney, caught some huge perch from a southern pit and then broke the silver bream record on another water.

Alan, who has appeared many times in these columns, fished lobworm and landed some superb perch weighing 4.12.0, 4.11.0 and 4.8.0, plus six others between 3.8.0 and 2.8.0.

Fishing over a bed of broken lobs close to the bank near some brambles, he used a size 8 hook with whole lobworms under a two swan crystal waggler.

He then travelled to Mill Farm Fishery in Sussex and caught a silver bream weighing 2.3.8 on an RS Baits 4mm hooker pellet on a pole at 11m, fished over a bed of low oil green 4mm pellets.

Alan passed on his thanks to the lads at RS Baits in Eynsham for their help in producing the bait.

At the moment, his scales are being checked before he puts in a claim for the record.

"Jordan' - no, not the TV star but the mirror carp that lives in Linear's Hardwick Lake - has put in an appearance for Sparsholt College student Kevin Grout, weighing in at 38.14.0.

Kevin spent seven night on the big-fish water at Stanton Harcourt and targeted the back of a gravel bar in just 8ft of water. He baited up with a mixture of Mainline Pulse boilies, hemp, pellet and maggots and tipped his boilie hookbait with a maggot.

His rig was a size 9 Fox Arma Point LS hook and five inches of Fox Coretex hooklink.

Meanwhile, Linear bailiff Ivor Peachey, from Coventry, fished Unity Lake on the Guy's Synicate and banked the Moonscale' mirror weighing 33.4.0.

Ivor baited up an area 90 yards out with pellet and maggot and fished maggot on a Fox size 6 hook over the top.

Five days later he returned to the water and had 11 carp out, including a 31.7.0 ghostie.
