HORSE RACING: Channon rues Nahoodh's misfortune
 |
| Nahoodh (centre) found her path blocked as she finished a close-up fifth behind Natagora (right) and Spacious (left) |
West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon was in philosophical mood on Monday as he reflected on Nahoodh's unlucky defeat in Sunday's stanjamesuk.com 1000 Guineas at Newmarket.
The grey filly flashed home to finish fifth behind French winner Natagora, but may well have won with a clear run.
Channon still remains without a British Classic success despite having many attempts, but took defeat on the chin.
He said: "If I'd stopped her, I couldn't have done a better job!
"No-one's dead, so let's move on. It's no good dwelling. She's great and has eaten up. It's a long season."
WHATCOMBE trainer Paul Cole landed a 36-1 across-the-card treble on Monday with Shampagne at Kempton, Precision Break at Warwick and Trans Siberian at Windsor.
