ICE HOCKEY: Below-par show angers Morvan
Oxford City Stars' coach Darryl Morvan said his players had let themselves down after they were held to a 4-4 draw by Solihull Barons in the English National League South A Cup.
"It would be very easy to try to make excuses for our performance, such as it was a game with no importance attached to it, and that the team are tired after a hard season," said Morvan.
"But the bottom line is we did not perform to our potential. After the game we had a short meeting and the players know that they let themselves down.
"Against a stronger team we would have lost, and we were fortunate to come away with a draw.
"But we have to put this behind us now, learn from our mistakes and prepare for a potentially much harder fixture against Milton Keynes this weekend.
"We want to finish the season in style, and will be working hard this week to make sure we are physically and mentally prepared for Milton Keynes. I'm confident it will be a totally different team that takes to the ice."
