ICE HOCKEY: Stars seeking home comforts

Oxford City Stars will be looking to shake off the disappointment of missing out on the league play-offs, when they entertain Solihull Barons in the South Cup tomorrow.

Last weekend's results saw Cardiff pip Stars to second spot, so it's the Welshmen and Peterborough who take on the cream of the South B League in the end-of-season shake-up.

Stars will be without defender Lee Featherstone who serves a one-match ban for being sent off in their stormy encounter against Telford Wildcats two weeks ago.

He returns for next Sunday's league finale against his former employers Milton Keynes.

Oxford's coach Darryl Morvan is determined that the team end the season on a high.

"Solihull will provide us with a stern test and have some promising young players," he said.

"Andy Cox and Will Skaife return from injury, while Joe Edwards is again called up from the under 18s."

He added: "Although we cannot qualify for the play-offs or the cup final, the team is eager to finish the season on a winning run, and use that as a foundation for next season.

"This is a very proud group, and they are highly motivated to produce the sort of entertaining hockey their supporters know they can display, for the remaining two fixtures."
