Oxford City Stars coach Darryl Morvan was delighted with the determination shown by his team in their double-header against Peterborough and Telford.

"There were two tremendous performances by the team," said Morvan.

"We put in a sterling performance in defence and created the better chances.

"Even the Peterborough manager admitted the result flattered them."

He added: "At Telford, the team did an excellent job, with Lee Featherstone an absolute rock in defence, and Kevin McGurk proving we have an excellent tandem of netminders.

"Joe Oliver and Patrick Knightley made solid contributions, when you need your younger players to show what they are capable of.

"We played hockey that bordered on brilliance, and it is a shame that we haven't been able to produce that sort of form in some of the other games."
