Oxford City Stars emerged from their travels unbeaten after tough encounters against Peterborough Islanders and Telford Tigers in the space of two days.

Saturday's 4-4 draw at Peterborough in the South Cup, was followed by Stars thrashing Telford Tigers 7-3 in South Division A the next day.

Missing the experienced trio of Darren Elliott, Andy Cox and Dave Carr against Peterborough, Stars went behind when Steve Malle netted, before Nick Oliver and Alan Green set up Jacob Smith for the equaliser.

Smith fired Stars ahead following good work from defenceman Lee Featherstone and Dean Francis.

But the Oxford celebrations had barely died down when Peterborough made it all-square.

Oxford restored their lead when Kent Johnson and Featherstone combined to set up Grant Bailey (pictured), but again it was all square when Jamie Holland beat netminder James Skaife.

Peterborough then had Malle sin-binned for a bad challenge on Francis which saw him shoved into the glass panels behind one of the nets.

Malle then made matters worse when he was sent off for being abusive to the referee.

And Stars took full advantage with Sam Broughton flicking the puck over the Peterborough netminder from Featherstone's slapshot to make it 4-3.

Oxford suffered a blow when Will Skaife went off with an arm injury.

It looked as though Stars would hold on for victory, but three minutes from time, the Islanders levelled.

Without the injured Will Skaife, Nick Eden (work commitments) and James Skaife (unavailable) against Telford, Stars were 3-0 up in the first ten minutes.

Alan Green fired the opener from Sam Broughton's pass, with Bailey making it 2-0 after an assist from Johnson, before Broughton grabbed No 3.

However, Telford got back in the game through Jim Corfield after Nick Oliver was sent to the sin-bin.

And Corfield reduced Telford's deficit with his second.

But Oxford resumed control when Featherstone made it 4-2 after excellent work from Green and Mark Krater.

And it got better for Stars when Patrick Knightley and Francis set up Johnson for No 5.

Francis hammered their sixth into the top corner following an incisive pass from Bailey.

Telford pulled a goal back, before Green wrapped it up with Oxford's seventh, assisted by Broughton and Krater.
