Super Lindsay scoops gold

Wantage's Matthew Lindsay won gold at the British Judo Council English National Championships.

Lindsay was one of six Oxfordshire competitors to bring back silverware, with Michael Mills from Eynsham, winning silver, and bronze medals going to Trisha Nayee (Eynsham), Jamie Thompson and James Chitty (both Witney) and Zoe Lane (Brize Norton).

An unusual relationship has been cemented between a local martial arts club and some of the region's top dispute lawyers.

The Commercial Litigation team at Darbys Solicitors, Oxford, is providing Miller Taekwon-Do, a club based in Didcot, with financial support for their participation in UK and international events including the European Championships in Croatia this month.

Henry Mendus, Head of Commercial Litigation at the firm, presented a cheque to Gary Miller at their offices in New Inn Hall Street.

Mendus said: "We are proud to team-up with this club, not only because it promotes fitness, strength of character and courtesy.

"We hope Gary and his team excel in the future."

Miller, who has led the Taekwon-Do club for more than 20 years said: "We are honoured to accept this support and to have formed such good links with Darbys, which I am certain we will all benefit from."
