HOCKEY: Perfect end says Banbury coach
Reflecting on his side's success over Rotherham in the England men's Trophy final, Banbury coach Tony Instone said: "This is a perfect end to the campaign.
"I am delighted for the side who have put in so much effort - not just this season, but over the last three years.
"The side have gained two promotions and two trophies in the last three seasons and they just keep setting themselves new targets, and the bar just gets higher and higher."
Skipper Charlie Murphy said: "It took us a while to get going, but in the second half we showed how good we are and completely dominated the game.
"In all honesty it could have been more than six goals.
"It was a great way for us to end our relationship with the trophy - league promotion means the side won't be eligible next season - and we have equalled West Herts's record of three trophy wins.
"This was the complete squad performance and all 16 players and the management team did their job to secure the trophy.
Murphy added:, "It was great to see so many people had made the journey to Essex to cheer us on.
"The support we've had throughout the year has been crucial."
