Oxford must win last away game
Oxford Hawks suffered a shattering 7-1 home defeat to high-flying Chichester in South League Premier Division 1.
Chichester were sharper and more professional in every facet of the game and capitalised on Hawks' low confidence after two successive league defeats.
Perversely, it was Hawks who took the lead after only three minutes when a decent move down the left flank put Paul Hayes in for a straightforward finish.
Hawks kept the lead for 15 minutes but Chichester looked increasingly threatening and it was no surprise when Jamie Legg in the home goal was beaten from five yards.
Chichester started to play with style and arrogance, adding three goals by half-time.
Hawks huffed and puffed in the second half, but too often surrendered possession and Chichester added three further goals.
The defeat leaves Hawks still not entirely safe from relegation for a second successive season. In order to be absolutely safe, they need to take three points from their final game away to Brighton.
