Abingdon staged one of the most remarkable recoveries of the season as they overturned a 4-1 half-time deficit against Harrow at Tilsley Park to run out comfortable 8-4 winners.

They were inspired by a second-half hat-trick from Josh Tomlinson in South League MBB&O Division 1 fixture.

Bottom-of-the-table Harrow caused Abingdon problems throughout the first half, and Nick Lendon scored on the break to put them ahead.

Andy Ringsell equalised, sending Tomlinson's cross through the keeper's legs from the edge of the circle.

However, Jatim Patel soon put Harrow in front again, and two further penalty corner goals put them 4-1 ahead at the break.

But, in a complete reversal of the first half, the second 35 minutes saw Abingdon tear through Harrow's defence.

Tomlinson finished off a surging run with a shot on the turn into the corner of the goal from six yards.

Abingdon captain Chris Way then made it 4-3 before Tomlinson claimed his second.

By now Harrow were in total disarray, and Will Trigg then Tomlinson, completing his hat-trick, took advantage of defensive blunders.

David Brooks and Ringsell rounded off the scoring.

Oxford Hawks made a welcome return to form with a deserved 4-3 win over Spencer at Banbury Road North in Premier Division 1.

Hawks cast aside their failings of the previous week and turned on the style in the second half to edge out the skilful visitors.

The sides were level at half-time, Hawks twice coming from behind with goals from Paul Hayes and Ed Baldock.

Spencer were sharp and inventive on the break but looked fallible at the back.

Hawks raised the tempo in the second half and went ahead when Nick Ferraby's drag flick defeated the Spencer keeper.

The visitors equalised from a penalty stroke awarded for an illegal challenge in the circle to make it 3-3.

Hawks' winner was a beauty. They broke sharply down the right with an exchange of quick passing, and the ball was delivered to midfielder Will Headley at the top of the circle and he finished decisively into the roof of the net.

Oxford University moved up to third with a 3-2 victory at Brighton, while back in Division 1 Bicester went down 2-1 at home to Gerrards Cross, and Wallingford lost 3-2 at home to Tring.

City of Oxford had a nightmare first half in which they could do nothing right at home to Wokingham.

Disjointed up front and poor at the back, they trailed by three goals but 17-year-old Seb Wilson did manage to pull two goals back in the second half as they went down 3-2.

Third-placed Witney drew 1-1 at home to South Bucks.

Other scores: Newbury 2nd 4, City 2nd 2; City 3rd 3, Gerrards Cross 3rd 1.
