Defending champion Eddie Pepperell had to be content with second place in the BB&O Junior Championship at Woburn.

The Drayton Park member and England junior international carded a level par two-round total of 144, but was pipped by Jake Canning (Stoke Park), who shot 143.

The Oxfordshire's Alex Stubbs (pictured) won the handicap trophy by three strokes with a nett 139.

  • Frilfiord Heath Ladies reached round four of the Mail on Sunday Classic after a 3.5-1.5 home win over Magnolia Park.

Their winners were Kate Evans, Angela Tyreman and Annie Gowing with Caroline Pearce halving her match.

  • Radley captain Mel Lewis held his nerve to seal a home victory over Studley Wood in the first round of the BB&O's Hillman Trophy.

The seven-man matchplay event was tied at 3.5-3.5 at the end of normal play, but Lewis saw off his opposite number on the third extra hole.

Radley, whose other players were Gavin Bosse, Nick Lewis, Keith Willans, Ric Tabor, Bob Smith and Bill Hains, now play Drayton Park in round two.

  • Dick Mullins only joined North Oxford this month, but has already hit a hole-in-one!

Mullins landed his ace on the par-three 129-yard 11th hole during a roll-up competition.

  • The opening event of the Jamega Pro Tour season will place at Magnolia Park on Monday after bad weather forced its postponement on April 7.
