With Chinnor being crowned Oxfordshire Super League champions and Three Tuns A guaranteed runners-up spot, the spotlight is now on third place where White Lion and Shears are locked together on 51 points.

Lion looked to have the advantage as they took on basement team Shelswell at home, while Shears entertained Tuns A.

Olly Varney got Lion off to a good start with a 3-0 win, but Shelswell hit straight back through Dave Bedborough.

Kit Young, Keith Bedding and John Fowler then put Lion 4-1 up, before Tim Tricker took a second set for Shelswell.

Paul King put the result beyond doubt for the hosts, with Graham Manning and Steve Skelton adding two more victories for a 7-2 final scoreline.

Shears got themselves off to a good start against Tuns as Martin Turnbull took the first set 3-0, Steve Foster levelling for the visitors with another 3-0.

Preben Krabben won 3-1 to put the hosts ahead once more and Paul Cross added to the lead.

Ken Baker put Shears a set away from victory and Shears captain Dave Exell sealed the points by winning his set 3-0 to give the hosts a 5-1 lead.

Nigel Russell and Roger Haines took the next two for Tuns, before Kevin Wilkins captured the final set for Shears, leaving them 6-3 winners.

Champions Chinnor FC were at home to Hundred Acres and found themselves 2-1 down as Joe Palmer and Dick Foster recorded wins either side of Gary Price's victory for the home side.

Mark Laverack levelled the score with his 3-2 win and the hosts didn't drop another leg as Tony Leone, Paul Farnes, Nick Cobb, Jon Jukes and Peter Rouse all recorded 3-0 wins for 7-2 triumph.

Masons entertained Goodlake and the sides shared the first six sets - Bob Godwin, Phil Busby and Ade Buckingham for the hosts, Mick Wilkes, Les Radford and Andy Wood for the visitors, curiously all six sets going against the throw.

Andy Povey put Goodlake ahead for the first time, but Martin Bull and Spencer Buckingham bagged the final two as Masons won 5-4.

Shelley's match at Three Tuns B was postponed as a mark of respect to Steve Roberts, who died recently.

This week's 25-plus averages: J Palmer (Hundred Acres) 30.67, P Rouse 27.83, N Cobb 25.91, P Farnes 25.47 (all Chinnor), K Wilkins 27.33, P Cross 26.18, D Exell 25.91 (all Shears), S Foster 25.47, N Russell 25.24 (both Three Tuns), O Varney (White Lion) 25.47, A Wood (Goodlake) 25.91.
