YOUTH CRICKET: Magical Metcalfe off to flier

Jack Metcalfe was 52 not out as Cumnor began their Oxfordshire section campaign with a 92-run victory over Witney Swifts in Group A of the Nationwide Under 15 Club Championship.

Batting first, Cumnor rattled up 149-2 in their 20 overs, Metcalfe sharing an unbroken third-wicket stand of 85 with James Lee (42).

In reply, Swifts were restricted to 57-9, Pierre DuPlessis taking 3-10.

Combe scored 162-3 in their Group F clash with Charlbury.

Robbie Nicholson (50), Jonathan Bourchier (46) and Mark Francis (37no) starred for Combe, before Charlbury were held to 86-3, despite 34 from Ben Geeson-Brown.

Ducklington 88-4 (D Tolley 34no), Oxford Downs 89-2 (W Bibby 37).

Cumnor 149-2 (J Metcalfe 52no, J Lee 42no), Witney Swifts 57-9 (P DuPlessis 3-10).

Great Tew 70-8 (R Simpson 4-8), Bicester 64-4.

Tiddington 116-7 (A Willis 51no), Aston Rowant 96 (J Cheney 5-15, C Goodman 4-16).

Oxford B 45-7, Horspath 46.

Warborough & Shillingford 71-4, Dorchester 73-3.

Group E.

Buscot Park 137-2 (W Oglesby 53no, J Vanags 36no), Kingston Bagpuize 42 (L Bouwers 4-6, J Vanags 3-12).

Abingdon Vale 76-3 (T Tierney 35), Challow & Childrey 77-2 (R Gordon 46no).

Group F.

Combe 162-3 (R Nicholson 50no, J Bourchier 46, M Francis 37no), Charlbury 86-3 (B Geeson-Brown 34).

Freeland 103-7, Minster Lovell 79 (G Wagerfield 3-6).
