CRICKET: Taylors bowl over Freeland
Andy Harris hits a boundary on the way to his century for Great & Little Tew
Andy Harris hits a boundary on the way to his century for Great & Little Tew

Father and son Kevin and Jack Taylor bowled Great & Little Tew to a comprehensive 132-run victory at Freeland in the npower Village Cup first round.

Tew lost the toss and were unsurprisingly inserted on a bitterly cold and overcast day.

But despite the conditions, they rattled up an impressive 262-5 off their 40 overs, with Andy Harris hitting exactly 100.

Skipper Shane Faulkner chipped in with 59 and Ben Millard made an unbeaten 48.

In reply, Freeland were shot out for 130, with Jack Taylor taking 5-22 and Kevin Taylor 4-22.

Luke Cherry smashed 115 in Cropredy's 151-run home victory over Baldons.

Cherry shared in a third-wicket stand of 127 with Hussain Altaf to set Cropredy on the way to a formidable 241-4.

That proved far too many for Baldons, who closed on 90-6.

Aston Rowant cruised to a nine-wicket win at Tiddington.

The hosts were held to 167-8, despite the efforts of Alex Mackie, who hit a half-century, and Nick Edmonton.

Chris Watling, with a fine knock, then took Rowant to 168-1, with good support from Tim Morgan.

Now Rowant are at home to Oxfordshire champions Oxford Downs - who coasted to a nine-wicket win over Bledington - in the pick of the second round ties on Sunday, May 4.

Bledington were rolled over for 83 before Downs coasted to 84-1.
