Nondies too Strong

Mark Strong hit 37 vital runs and then took 6-15 as Oxford & Bletchingdon Nondescripts carried on where they left off last summer by beating Abingdon Vale in Division 2.

Nondies won every match in 2007 as they raced to the Division 3 title.

But they looked in trouble after they limped to 141-9 from their 52 overs.

Left-arm spinner Paul White took 4-32 for Vale, who had won the toss and decided to field.

Dan King hit 42 for the visitors but off-spinner Strong proved too good as they crumbled to 113 all out.

While Nondies and Abingdon were struggling to score, Nick Meadows hit 144 on his own as Challow & Childrey racked up 325-5 at home to Bourton Vale.

His marathon innings included a 114-partnership with Ian Demain (52), while Julian Penny smashed an unbeaten 39 just before the close.

Hamza Almuzahim then hit an unbeaten 112 and with Graham Newhook (53) saw his side to 236-7 and a share of the spoils.

Alex Mackie's 75 was the mainstay of Tiddington's 242-9, which would surely be enough against Dinton, who struggled with the bat all last year as they tumbled out of Division 1.

But Ashley Smith hit 98 not out and Nathan Brooks 56 as the visitors reached 246-8, despite the best efforts of Neil Smith (4-66). Earlier Neil Spicer had taken 5-59 for Dinton.

Bledlow Ridge's prolific run-scorer Martin Middleton wasted no time getting in the runs again, hitting 111 in his side's 208 all out at Long Marston.

Martin Wright took 5-26 before hitting an unbeaten 64 for the home side, who were never in the hunt in reply, settling for a draw on 156-7.

Left-arm seamer Paul Brzezicki took 4-57 for Ridge.

Left arm spinner Mike Alston took 5-50 as Milton Keynes Park restricted Leighton Buzzard Town to 184-8.

Dan Scott top-scored with 57 for Town, but the all-rounder was unable to prevent Park easing to 188-5, with Graham Simpson (41) and Tim Chapman (65no) to the fore.
