After an indifferent start Banbury finished the season strongly to finish
a very commendable runners up. In a season where all players used contributed
to the overall success, notable pluses were junior players Jimmy Phillips
and Chris Smith who consolidated their positions as first team regulars
and performers. They look forward to another good year.
The 2nd XI after a good start and expecting promotion to Division 1 had
a poor mid season which led to them finishing in fourth spot. This coming
season they will be under the captaincy of Jamie Briggs.
The 3rd XI well placed for promotion at half way fell away mainly due
to calls from the 2nd XI and the loos of main bowlers. A tie in the last
game meant they remained in Division 6. It will be down to the younger
bowlers this year following the retirement of the oldest swinger in town,
Andy Smith. New captain Sean Cranley takes over.
The 4th XI under the Captaincy of Peter Gregory ha a good first year
finishing mid table and fielded many teenagers who did themselves justice.
As they improve there are high hopes of promotion this season.
