ATHLETICS: In-form Jodie is a Major success!
Jodie Major posted two personal bests as Radley B finished fifth in their opening Division 2 West meeting at Bournemouth on Saturday.
Major threw 6.23m in the shot and 15.28m in the under 15 discus as Radley finished two points ahead of county rivals Abingdon Amblers in the opening round.
Leanne Spurway also had personal bests in the 100m (13.3 secs) and 200m (28.4).
Lois Waknell, making her Southern League debut, also recorded personal bests in the 800m (3.11.5) and the long jump (3.90m).
At senior level, Emily Dalimore clocked personal bests of 14.2 in the 100m and 29.8 in the 200m, while Jenna Grace impressed with a time of 2.47.8 in the 800m.
Abingdon also chalked up a number of promising performances.
Jemma Gregory finished first in both the 200m and 75m hurdles in 27.1secs and 12.4secs respectively.
Elsewhere, Megan Palmer set a personal best of 4.72m to finish second in the long jump, while Lilly Cartwright won the B string 75m hurdles in 13.4.
In the senior section, Katherine Mitchell won the shot with 8.96m.
Lizzie Gottwald finished second in the 3,000m, clocking 11mins 25secs.
