Man injured in alley attack

A 33-year-old man was punched in the face during an unprovoked attack in an alleyway.

He was walking from Mill Street, Wantage, along an alleyway - which leads from The Wharf to Witan Way - listening to an MP3 player at about 1am on Saturday, July 5, when he was punched from behind.

Nothing was stolen, but the man needed treatment in hospital for injuries to his chin.

Pc Adi Bray said: "There were other people in the area at the time, including those in Mill Street getting takeaways.

"We are still investigating exactly what happened in this incident and I would ask that anyone who witnessed this assault get in touch."

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or speak anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
