Marching on to help Hadrian's Wall

Soldiers from Bicester will be making improvements while undertaking a sponsored march along Hadrian's Wall.
Men and women from 23 Pioneer Regiment Royal Logistic Corps, based at St David's Barracks, will be taking part in the event next week in aid of the Army Benevolent Fund.
The regiment will be working in conjunction with National Trails, English Heritage and Newcastle City Council on projects along the world-famous wall.
Mmore than 350 soldiers will take part in the five-day march along the 84-mile National Trail.
Lieutenant Colonel Simon Wheelton, the Commanding Officer of 23 Pioneer Regiment, said: "This event will enable my soldiers to practise some of their brick-laying and carpentry skills in support of one of our National Heritage sites, followed by a demanding physical event that will test our endurance and teamwork while at the same time hopefully raising a significant amount of money for a very worthwhile charity."
The march will take place from Monday to Friday - with the aim of raising a record-breaking amount for the charity.
Lt Col Wheelton added: "We hope to raise approximately £10,000 from Hadrian's Wall alone, with a continued drive throughout the year for more."
The Army Benevolent Fund is the soldiers' charity. Since the end of the Second World War, it has been dedicated to the welfare of every soldier, ex-soldier and their immediate families by providing financial support and practical advice in times of need.

I was under the distinct impression that the Army was so short staffed they could not fill all the vacancies in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Obviously more blatent untruths from the Government!
