Miss Oxford Mail deadline looms
Eleanor Glynn
Eleanor Glynn

Young women hoping to win the Miss Oxford Mail competition are being reminded there are just two days left to enter and have a chance of winning the title.

All entries, including a completed version of the official form printed below, must be received at the Oxford Mail head office in Osney Mead no later than tomorrow.

Once all the entries are in, the contenders will be invited to a photo audition.

This year, the Oxford Mail has joined forces with the organisers of Miss England to choose this year's Miss Oxford Mail.

Eleanor Glynn, from Sandford-on-Thames, was crowned Miss Oxford in 2006 and went on to win Miss England.

Daniella Luan achieved the same feat in 2002.

Both women travelled across the globe to compete in the Miss World competition and Miss England organiser Angie Beasley said the Oxfordshire area often provided a high number of entries to the competition.

Ms Beasley said: "Organisers of the Miss England contest are now choosing the contestants to appear at the next round of the Miss Oxford Mail contest."

Successful entrants will be invited to an audition at the Oxford Mail on Tuesday, March 25, and to take part in a photoshoot.

Following this, about 20 finalists will be selected for the final round of the competition, who will then appear in a special Miss Oxford Mail feature where readers can help select the winner.

The ultimate winner of Miss Oxford Mail will win a place in the Miss England grand final on July 18 - and will receive a prize package worth over £2,000, which includes a two-day stay in London for the Miss England final, a day at Champneys health resort, a photoshoot and portfolio from the Fresh Academy and an evening gown worth £500 along with other local prizes. Organisers are looking for companies to support the competition by offering the 20 finalists and winner of the Miss Oxford contest more prizes.

Ms Beasley added: "It would be great to hear from local businesses who can help us by donating prizes."

Anyone interested in donating a prize should telephone Ms Beasley on 01162 440479 or email angie@missengland.info
