Vital five votes
Allow me to thank the five Barton and Sandhills Labour voters who stayed at home on May 1.
They are heroic without realising it. This prevented New Labour winning there and spared Oxford the humiliation of becoming the only council in the entire country to be won by New Labour.
Yes, New Labour are back in control of the city, but mercifully, it's only a minority administration.
Everywhere else, New Labour got the metaphorical good kicking they deserved, yet in Oxford they were rewarded with four extra seats!
In your editorial about the local elections, you said that Oxford was "unique". Perverse, more like.

I see they've already got the notices about dogs fouling playing fields and play areas.
Typical Labour - hate anything British.
But as they say: **** to ****.
