Tram support

I agree with Peter Collett about the use of trams in Oxford (Oxford Mail, May 7).

They could quite easily be used in a loop from The Plain up the High, down St Aldate's, past the ice rink, stopping briefly at Oxford railway station, then up Hythe Bridge Street, then into town via Queen Street and down The High again - all at a nice sedate 10 to 15 miles per hour.

There would be no fumes, no noise, and let's face it, everybody loves trams.

So, come on Oxford City Council, get rid of smelly old buses in our town centre. At least give trams a chance.

You would still need to catch a bus into Oxford to catch a tram into the town centre - very clever!. where is the elimination of pollution there? and where would the electricity come from? our lovely "environmentally friendly" didcot power station...

I agree with Peter Collett that trams would be A good idea. They're slow moving vehicles that would replace the buses but there's the problem of where to get the electricity from.

perhaps get the electricity from wind turbines in Christchurch meadows

Giving trams A chance in Town Center would be A good idea. Electricity could be got from wind turbines in Christchurch meadows, what A good idea. As for buses they could just avoid the town center(the tram loop)
