Back in power
It's good to have Labour back in power in Oxford. Congratulations to Labour councillors who won.
People in Oxford will see a difference with Labour in charge.
There will be people who disagree, but in future, they will see the good Labour are doing and may decide to join the party. Of course, the moaners will never be satisfied. The Labour Party, country-wise, will put it right before the General Election - Gordon Brown has taken note of what is happening.
We know that it will all cost a lot of money, but just be patient - over 75-year-olds get free TV licences and their Christmas bonus.
I wonder if people who don't vote Labour accept the gifts received at Christmas? If you vote against Labour, why accept these gifts? Would the other parties hand out these gifts? I don't think so. Don't forget in future - vote Labour.

Their powers are limited to aggrivation of the majority.

They were in power for last 25 years and mess up and even this time they don't have any vision or idea to deliver any thing better for Oxford,
Are they going to bring weekly waste collection back!

They've made it clear that they will NOT revert to weekly collections already.
They've also announced funding for decrepit play areas across the city, although its hard to see where they can fund this from without increasing the council tax again by the maximum amount available next year.
This is particularly galling after they allowed these play areas to slip into disrepair over at least 10 years whilst inept managing the council finances.
The last great piece of theft they have announced is the plan to move the city leisure services into 'Not for Profit' trusts. This idea was a LibDem idea and was blocked by Labour previously for nothing more than self interest. They were screaming about it being privatisation which was an utter downright lie.
In other words, Labour have deliberately lied to the people of Oxford, held back on allowing an improvement in services, simply so they could effect a sordid kind of coup.
That's what all those fools who voted Labour seem to miss. Too busy like so many of the councillors themselves that the Labour Party is the party of the working class. Welcome to champagne socialism guys. All those Labour councillors living in Oxfords wealthy districts will be laughing at your expense.
And while the Labour Party claims to have green credentials remember that when you see them driving their Jaguars to committee meetings.
