Hundreds of Filipinos celebrated the 110th anniversary of their nation's independence at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital today.
For the fifth year running the city's Filipino community came together to mark the occasion - with colourful parades and traditional cuisine.
The afternoon also featured a cultural show and a variety talent show with a Filipino slant, offering everything from music to comedy and traditional dance.
Ariel Lanada, 36, president of the Filipino Community of Oxfordshire and a senior nurse at the JR's intensive care unit, said: "It was a great success.
"It was attended by about 700 to 750 people - double how many we had last year - with guests including MP Andrew Smith and Lord Mayor of Oxford Susanna Pressel.
"We also had diplomats from the Filipino embassy."
There are about 3,000 Filipinos living in Oxfordshire, many of whom moved here to work as nurses in the NHS following a recruiting campaign in the country's capital, Manila.
