Three more people have been arrested in connection with the death of a man found unconscious on a barge.

Maurice Batts, 64, died in hospital on Tuesday, six days after he was found slumped in a barge in Southam Road, Banbury.

Two women aged 21 and 49 and a 23-year-old man were arrested today on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to pervert the cause of justice. Detectives have until midnight to interview a 52-year-old man in custody also arrested on suspicion of murder.

DS George Turner said: "I am particularly keen to hear from anybody who saw or spoke to Maurice between Thursday, September 27, and Saturday, September 29. He was found collapsed on the evening of 29 September and taken to hospital.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could prove vital to establishing his movements and how he died."
