Protesters gathered outside the gates of RAF Brize Norton yesterday demanding an end to the deportation of asylum seekers.
About 45 supporters of the the Campaign to Close Campsfield - including Kurdish asylum seeker Zirak Hamad, right, who faces deportation - took part in a protest about the treatment of failed asylum seekers from Iraq and Kurdistan who are being returned to the troubled region.
The demonstration was planned to coincide with a military flight to northern Iraq, operated for the Home Office, carrying a number of failed asylum seekers arrested and detained over the past fortnight.
Campaign spokesman Bill MacKeith said: "We call on the Home Office to recognise that Iraq isn't safe and that people should not be returned there."
