Courtney Pine to play Blackheath Halls

2:57pm Monday 18th December 2000

GETTING through the festive season at Blackheath Halls will be a big enough job as it is with Naughty Rhythms, DJ Deke and the New Years Eve bash all coming up some time over the next fortnight.

But the musical madness doesnt grind to halt in 2001.

A packed timetable of varied and exciting musical treats are in store for the new year at this top-quality live venue.

Perhaps the biggest highlight is a confirmed date from top jazz man Courtney Pine.

A stalwart supporter of the venue, this sax supremo returns with his suberb new album.

His music, a marriage of jazz, swing, soul, world music and hip hop, is respected by many across the live scene and he often sells out long before his gigs, so get in there early to secure your tickets.

Top soul singer Ruby Turner puts in an appearance on February 17.

This stunning performer is one of the finest soul voices this side of the Atlantic.

Critically acclaimed, she is by far and away one of the best modern singers in the genre, matching the likes of Aretha Franklin with her vocal and physical stage presence.

New band Coustea look like becoming a big success with their fusion of flutes, horns and violins over acoustic guitars and pianos.

Big on ballads, this talented live act have already made waves with their debut material, so make sure you catch the gig on February 23 before they get really big.
