Flood warning remains in place

A flood warning remained in place this morning on the River Thames through Oxfordshire.

The Environment Agency said the river could still flood between Lechlade and Sandford Lock - putting areas such as Botley, Wolvercote, Osney, Wytham and Kennington at risk.

Other rivers and tributaries in Oxfordshire were on lesser flood watches - including the River Thame through Dorchester and the River Ray and its tributaries through Islip.

Also on flood watches were the Cherwell, including the Sor and Bloxham Brooks, the Thames from Sandford to Little Wittenham - including Abingdon - and the River Ock. The Environment Agency said last night it believed the worst of the danger had passed as river levels throughout the county began to stabilise or recede.
