Spurious
The Internet revolution has been a wonderful thing.
However, we think Abingdon Town Council's plan to offer free Wi-Fi access is a spurious way of trying to attract more people.
From today, laptop users will be diverted to the town council's home page, to a list of what's on.
It reckons this will entice more people to explore, and lead to a surge in tourism.
A good piece of PR, but Abingdon, a quaint little market town, is not the biggest draw for day-trippers, let's be honest.
