A show which tells the story of an Irish folk band is set to visit Oxford as part of its biggest ever tour, following performances in the West End and worldwide.

Seven Drunken Nights - The Story of The Dubliners takes audiences on a 50-year musical journey through the bands career and will be at Oxford's New Theatre on March 28.

The show is partnering with Tourism Ireland and Irish pub O’Donoghue’s, where The Dubliners began their journey in 1962.

The 80-date UK and Irish leg of the international tour began in Manchester on February 29 and will culminate in Waterford on June 23.

Show creator Ged Graham said: "It was very nerve-racking meeting relatives of The Dubliners.

"Meeting Luke Kelly’s brother, Paddy, early on during the first tour was just brilliant.

"He and his family have been so supportive of the show. Likewise, Barney McKenna’s sister came to see the show when we toured Ireland and was very complimentary."

The tour looks set for a record year, with nearly 300 shows across 42 weeks on the road.

Mr Graham added: "Seven Drunken Nights seems to have touched so many people who have become real fans of the show, reigniting their love of The Dubliners.

"It’s had a massive impact on my life, giving me the confidence to write more and be involved in many other productions."

Tickets are available at all venues and on the official website.
