Knife-carrying detective convicted

A detective has been convicted for carrying a knife.

Dc David Muddiman, based at Didcot police station, has been suspended following a court case at Swindon Magistrates' Court.

Dc Muddiman was charged with section four of the Public Order Act 1986 involving the possession of a knife during an incident while off duty, a police spokesman said.

He was found guilty following a three-day trial at court on Friday.

The charge relates to an altercation with a group of youths on New Year's Day in Grove.

He will be sentenced at Swindon Magistrates' Court on October 1.
