Gang stole bank card details
Florin Solomon
Florin Solomon

A Romanian man who admitted being part of a gang who fitted a so-called skimming device to an Oxford cash machine was jailed for more than three years today.

Oxford Crown Court heard Florin Solomon, 25, travelled from London to Oxford in June last year to help fit a cloning device at a NatWest cash machine in Cornmarket Street.

Solomon, of Westward Road, Walthamstow, admitted conspiracy to defraud at an earlier hearing, but claimed he didn't realise the exact nature of what he was involved in.

Jonathan Stone, prosecuting, said two car loads of men travelled to the city and fitted the skimming device and a camera to the machine.

He said: "Mr Solomon was close by and he had a satchel. The bag was believed to have contained a camcorder with a bluetooth receiver to receive images from a pin-hole camera above the cash point.

"This device was left on the machine for about 45 minutes.

"During the time the device was on the machine it copied details from 63 separate cards."

Mr Stone said police seized the device after a member of the public reported concerns and later arrested Solomon as he fled from a car in Gloucester Green car park.

Martin Henley, defending, said: "The role Mr Solomon played in this conspiracy was absolutely key.

"He says he was a gopher.

"He was assisting the driver. Their role in this was to transport some or all of the equipment."

Sentencing Solomon to 39 months in jail, Mr Recorder Harold Persaud said: "This was a well-planned operation.

"You travelled from Walthamstow to defraud the citizens of Oxford."

Another one of our immigrant friends enriching our society with his 'diverse' and 'alternate' lifestyle activities. We are SO lucky to have them all here taking our benefits and filling up our schools and hospitals. Well done new labour.

We can not question this mans criminal propensities however the comments above can only be viewed as the fascist rantings of members of the BNP.

I can only suggest that those of you who don't appreciate living in the EU find an alternative residence, I hear that both China and Iraq are lovely this time of year.

It is amazing how much you lot care about a crime like this where there is a non-English person involved. The sad thing is, you really don't see you are racist and go on and on saying racist things and really don't realise you are being prejudice. It’s such a shame.

These immigrants from Walthamstow - send 'em back I say!!!

What a load of tosh from "No Surprise". Send HIS ancestors back to where they came from as well. There's something quite funny about those who think that their ancestors have ALWAYS lived in this country or are of 'pure blood'. Quite simply they're not.

"Racist" is a silly word. It goes back about 70 years I think but has come into vogue lately as the left-wing equivalent of the chav's "f*** off" when, as is generally the case, they don't want to listen. Actually, if you look at the court lists and take a reasonable measure of "immigrant" as one who or whose parents have come into UK since 1945 including Republic of Ireland citizens you will find somewhat of an over-representation and no dear, it's not because the police are racist so I'd better just f*** off hadn't I?

These comments are very narrow-minded but they don't actually surprise me. Although I understand frustrations expressed, I wonder whether these opinions would have been the same if the fraud was carried out by a young local. Brits living or travelling abroad are not all necessarily leading by example.

Crime is crime, no matter of nationality or colour. It is just felt as more of a disrespect to all britons (not just whites) when it is commited by someone who will argue they came to this country for a better quality of life and then proceed to pled ignorance to the law.

The police and criminal injustice system will actually bend over backwards to satisfy to PC nutters who believe that saying a bad word about ethnic minorities, regardless of the circumstances, is a hate crime.
Take a look at the statistics of prison population demographics versus poulation demographics and you will see that the average non-white is nine times more likely to be an offender (usually violent) than the average white. I realise that some of you may find this fact rather inconvenient, but fact it is, nonetheless.
