Drug dealer spared jail

A drug-dealing mum-of-three has been spared jail so she can look after her children.

Police found a stash of heroin, crack cocaine and super-strength cannabis sorted into street deals when they raided Debbie Edmead's flat in Moorbank, Blackbird Leys, in Oxford, last May.

Edmead, 37, was living with two of her children - aged nine and 16 - at the time police stormed into the flat.

Officers also found 11 mobile phones - some with stored messages from customers ordering drug deals.

Today Edmead was handed a community order at Oxford Crown Court after pleading guilty to possession of super-strength 'skunk' cannabis, crack cocaine and heroin with intent to supply at an earlier hearing.

An allegation of breach of an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo), which she was given in February 2006, was dropped.

But Judge Julian Hall said the birth of her son, now aged 18 months, had changed her life and she had shown signs of ending her drug habit.

Henry James, prosecuting, said: "Police forced entry and found Miss Edmead and two children.

"They also found a large quantity of drugs and paraphernalia. The search took some time because the flat was quite chaotic."

Mr James said police removed £970 cash from inside the flat.

Judge Hall said if Edmead was a man she would be looking at a jail sentence and asked the court why she should not be locked away.

Claire Fraser, defending, said: "She shouldn't, because of her children. She has changed from the situation she was in back when these offences were committed. She has made changes and been successful."

Edmead, now living at Fairlie Road, in Rose Hill, has visited drugs counsellors and is the sole carer for her 18-month-old and 16-year-old sons.

Judge Hall handed Edmead a two year supervision order, 150 hours unpaid work and ordered her to attend a substance misuse programme.

He said: "It is clear you were dealing in drugs and a proper sentence for a guilty plea would have been two or two and-a-half years in prison.

"The order I am going to make preserves that as a possibility if you don't obey that order.

"But it does seem to me, partly because of a result of your young child, given the chance to keep on the rails you seem to have got on to, you should succeed."

What the heck.

Only a small amount!

£790-00 found. Living on our taxpayers benefits.

I think it stinks.

Dan answer this one!

She has changed; yes until the next time.

Well I suppose locking her up and putting her kids in care at (our) vast expense wouldn't have helped anyone, and I imagine she'll be effectively finished as a drug dealer now, and the 150 hours unpaid work may go some (small) way towards this woman making some small positive contribution to the society that (presumably) has paid for her to have three children and sell her neighbours' drugs.

Individually, these stories show a pattern of individual tragedy, chaotic and wasted lives where people have little self- respect and cause a disproportionate nuisance and cost to the rest of us, but as I maintain, individuals will always act in their best interests and it is the system that allows them to do this that is fault.

Unfortunately, the only 'crime' anyone can be guilty of these days is to be 'judgemental'- so there's no longer any shame in living a life on benefits; never working or having kids when you cannot emotionally or financially support them.

All the 'do- gooders' that have flourished over the past decade have made excuses for people who continually take the p*ss out of the rest of us who work to pay taxes so they never have to.

Explain how paying poor (usually low qualified, low skilled, low motivated) people by the number of kids they have is going to end 'child poverty'? Because this is NuLabour's justification for scr*wing us all for every penny we've got.

And what a great example she is setting to her kids eh?

Even my brother doesn't smoke in front of his baby daughter, whilst the poor kids here are growing up in an enviroment where the **** that Dan and his degenerate pals are keen to propagate and promote is seen as normal.

Her kids dhould be wrenched off her and put into the care of people who will not allow them to grow up in such an enviroment.

This is child abuse of a particularly insidious kind.

Of course if she were an immigrant selling minikites in Cornmarket street, this degenerate fool would be calling for her to be deported.

But hey Crack is just like Cannabis really, eh Junkies?

The average annual cost of a placement for a looked after child in an independent children’s home in England for 2005-06 (the latest year for which figures are available) was £120,000.

According to a Parliamentary answer given in December 2000, 12,265 additional prison places were provided between 1995/96 and 2000/01 at a total cost of £1.287 billion. This produces an average cost per place of £105,000.

The average cost of a prison place in 2002 was £38,753 per year

So, as a taxpayer, taking into account that this woman has now been caught, will be subject to supervision, still has the sentence suspended over her should she reoffend, and has three dependant children, locking her up is poor value for money.

Obviously this does not take into account the impact on wider society of putting at least two of the children in care, where statistically they are likley to underperform at school and be vulnerable to forming abusive relationships in the future to compensate for the lack of family bonds while in care- making them vulnerale to degenerate adults- say- the sort of person who champions taking naked photos of children for their own gratification (ring any bells Alan?)

On the other hand, deporting an illegal immigrant bussed in from London by a gangmaster to sell tat in Cornmarket poses no long term issues for the residents of Oxford and would be far less expensive than it already is if the human right act was repealed so that they could not appeal against their deportation at the taxpayer's expense.

So I rather think Alan, that the only 'degenerate' here is the one who advocates locking up mothers, making child pornography and sneering at residents of a city in which he doesn't even reside, and teh only 'fool' is the one who continues to trot out the same old rubbish and can't see it for what it is- for example referring to Oxford residents as @Junkies' when a drug worker of 15 years pointed out that the term only applied to heroin users, on this very forum.

Still- look on the bright side- the local elections and London Mayoral result shows the writing's on the wall for all of you misinformed Leftie wasters who hate Britain and The British and do all you can to poison it.

Yeah, it all boils down to cost doesn't it you vacuous little scumbag.

"Oh it would cost me so much money."

You would rather her kids grew up thinking drug dependency was normal and that dealing drugs was acceptable wouldn';t you. All because it means more money in your grubby little tory pocket.

You are one sick arsehole!!!

If I want to call drug users junkies I will call them junkies. Your "drug worker" pal only objects because he would be out of a well paid job if people actually stopped listening to all the druggie propaganda you and your drug dealing pals insist on trying to lecture us on and started actually alienating and kicking these degenerate scumbags out of communities until they could prove themselves able to function properly as human beings again.

This pathetic excuse for a mother should be given a kick up the arse FOR THE SAKE OF HER CHILDREN!!! If it means taking them into care while she gets clean and starts acting like a proper mother again then so be it!!

Incidentally, conidering that much of the BNP manifesto seems to consist of old left wing ideology, I do find it hilarious when some foaming little tory like yourself goes off on one about "lefties".

Envy I suppose.

Couldn't agree with you more.

If there were not kids involved I would let the self centred cow die in the gutter but her kids deserve better.

I mean what kind of life have they had, what the hell are they going to acheive with this totally needless cloud over their lives?

Scum like Dan have a good laugh at Council Estates being full of junkies etc. but it is the likes of him that promote, lie about the realities of and encourage drug abuse and then deny responsibility for the results.

Scum like him are the reason why estate kids underacheive, because it is considered more cost effective to keep the drugs industry up and running than eliminate it.

Still it exposes the whole of Dans posturing for what it is. He is as self centred as the junkies he supports and encourages. No wonder he can relate to them.

What an absolute joke .. this lady has been going round for weeks telling everyone she will get off with her crime because of her kids. Also since getting an ASBO for the blackbird leys area she has spent more time there than when she actually lived there including regularly drinking in the Blackbird pub. She has now been given a brand new house in Rose Hill so where is the justice in that?! If she actually gave a **** about the children she would not have had drugs in the same property as them in the first place and would she really having given a s**t if she hadn't have got caught... her claiming to be a needed mother now is nothing more than an attempt to escape prison, no mention of the nine year old she's not caring for though. Absolute joke of the justice system.

If you google "Mccaffrey Testimony on Drug legalisation " you will not only find a complete and detailed rebuttal of all the degenerate filth junkies have been putting around, but you also get to laugh at the various responses of the junkie junta as well.

Of course junkies argue that drug abuse affects nobody but the individual. I think this case kicks that particular piece of degenerate bullshit into touch.

It is, in the end, up to communities as a whole whether druggies should be allowed to close down their pubs, neglect children and commit and treat with utter contempt the rights of others to live in a junkie free existence.

Danthedealer whines about political correctness and a lack of judgmentalism, then questions my use of the term junkies. Such is his twisted, degenerate, cost-based take on life.

I don't know why communities have allowed themselves to be dictated to by a bunch of dribbling retards anyway. After all these glowstick waving freaks were probably talking to a magic swan on Venus the previous night.

Authorities are useless only non violent social sanctions by communities at large can work. Montesquieu was a big fan of social isolation of criminals by the broader community. Seems fair enough to me.
