MP told to come clean
Oxford East MP Andrew Smith and his wife Val
Oxford East MP Andrew Smith and his wife Val

Oxford East MP Andrew Smith has been put under more pressure to declare how much he pays his wife for constituency work, following the latest furore over expense claims.

Detailed expense claims of all MPs dating back to 2004 look set to be published by the end of the year.

This comes after the Commons was ordered to release details of 14 senior MPs' expenses under Freedom of Information laws.

And although Mr Smith - whose wife Val runs his constituency office - was not among this group, there have been further calls for him to reveal how much he pays her.

Craig Simmons, leader of Oxford's Green Party, said: "We have been asking Andrew Smith to disclose his expenses.

"The particular reason why we are targeting him is because of the situation surrounding MPs employing family members.

"Because his wife is not only employed by him but is also a councillor, it very much muddies the water between the Parliamentary and the political.

"We are asking for a breakdown of his expenses, together with timesheets of work carried out and evidence of employment.

"It is important we scrutinise where public money is going. With it now looking as though MPs will be forced to disclose expenditures by the end of the year, we are urging Andrew Smith to disclose his expenses now if he has nothing to hide."

But Mr Smith dismissed it as a political attack ahead of Green hopes to unseat him at the next General Election.

He said: "The Green Party has never contacted me asking me to declare anything. They are playing political games in the hope they can beat me in the General Election."

He said he felt it was a "good thing" that all MPs may have to publish detailed expense claims by the end of the year, saying: "The public has a right to know."

But when asked about his wife's salary, he said: "I think it would be unfair, and poor employment practice, to single out my wife for special treatment.

"I will consult all my staff about publishing how many staff I have in various pay bands and once this consultation is complete, I would like to publish the information.

"This will go beyond what is likely to be required by the Commons authorities."

Mr Smith said his wife was contracted to work 37 hours a week for him, but in practice worked many more.

Mr Smith has come under pressure following the case of Tory MP Derek Conway, suspended from the Commons after an investigation could find no record of work he had paid his son to do.

Mp's should also be forced to disclose their religion.

The Right Honourable Anthony Blair put his religious beliefs into the public domain without hesitation. Just a moment though; perhaps the choice of school for his son may have swayed him one way but them the other.

He has now made his mind up: Unless of course the situation in the European Parliament changes!

Also foreign sponsorships need to be investigated by the police and not simply whitewashed using the BBC and white papers.

What is really a top priority is for the incumbents to spend some time debating their views on British MP's and PM's abusing their position of trust to engage in depopulation and genocide and if the incumbents can give us their collective opinion on the statute of limitation for the crime of Genocide then we could see who's who and who needs to be strung up.

After all we English have enough interity not to harbour callous mass murderers whether they mrder for political, financial,
ideological or some other personal reason best known to themselves.

We have that integrity, the Incumbents and those waiting in the wings must surely have some incling as to our sensibilities or else they wouldn't be able to represent us let alone propagandise against us.

In other news that the OM does not want opinion on Judge Mary Jane feels theft of money to be a victimless crime.

Which can only really indicate a conflict of interests.

Sherlock deduces a political appointee to the Judiciary.

The tories have partially clean in the past, who could foget them blurting out they saw the UK as a soft touch.

With opposition like those is it any wonder the nation is in ruins and it's defensive capability is half way round the globe serving foreign interests.

How does all that realate to the question at hand?

A jackass wants to gain political and hence financial capital from embarrassing another jackass.

What we need is fewer jackass grabbing the lucre and more Mp's with integrity.

The worst of it is the non contributing nature of Oxford.

From the highly educated student population who dream of not contributing through the local government who strive to never contribute, the well to do who never fail to not contribute and onto the poor who are prevented from contributing, and then the retired with those who did not contribute living the longest.

All desparate to take more than they put in.

And when they run out of takings here why they annex someplace else and pinch it from there as well.

It only goes to show that moving money about is not contributing anything to the nation,it's wealth redistribution.

And so the race is on to furnish ourselves with MP's who will create legal loopholes through which the tax payer benefits.

Those at present aint making it.

It has to be said that if you find yourself reading between the lines in your own country it isnt your country any more.

It should also be mentioned that the new labour have never and would like to never have to try and justify the enormous and onerous expense their brand of government has subjected us all to.

What do we do with those people when we hold the reigns?

"Because his wife is not only employed by him but is also a councillor, it very much muddies the water between the Parliamentary and the political.

There must be more hours in a working week for Val than special if she puts in 37 for Andrew then plus her own job ,she must work 24/7 not what a laugh ,money for nothing more to the point tax payers money .employees should give in an account of what they do whether they family or not...
