EVERYONE knows how Oxford United got their place in the Football League in 1962 because Accrington Stanley went to the wall, and how the same club reclaimed their place in the League in 2006, with Oxford going in the opposite direction.
Could history repeat itself?
The Lancashire club have the lowest attendances in the Football League with just 118 season-ticket holders and are struggling to pay the bills unless gates increase or local sponsors step forward.
Chairman Eric Whalley said: "If we don't get more people through the turnstiles it could end up as it did in 1962 when the club couldn't afford to pay for the washing or the phone."
