Oxford City Stars made light work of new-boys Vectis Tigers, running out convincing 11-1 winners with Andy Green notching a four-timer.

And that was despite a slow start that only saw them 2-0 ahead by the end of the first period.

Lee Featherstone fired Oxford ahead with a cracking strike, and three minutes later captain Darren Elliott claimed his first goal of the season after Sam Broughton set him up.

The second period saw Stars start positively and never let up.

Nick Eden charged forward and set-up Green to also break his season's duck, before Nick Oliver made it 4-0.

Green then deflected an Oliver shot into the net for his second of the game, and minutes later completed a quickfire hat-trick.

Elliott was the next to add to the score, and Tigers' frustration showed when Adam Rich held Oxford defender Aidy Haigh on the floor and started punching.

The referee quickly intervened and promptly sent off the Vectis man.

They were made to pay when Oxford took advantage of the powerplay with Green notching his fourth of the night after good work from Featherstone and Andy Cox.

However, against the run of play Vectis scored what turned out to be their only goal of the night when Paul Sanderson netted to make it 8-1.

Dean Francis got Stars back on track in the final period, and further efforts from Grant Bailey, Dean Francis - completing his hat-trick - and Patrick Knightley gave them a convincing win.
